STARTING THE COLLEGE PROCESS

This plan supports students in generating of list of 10 college matches (reach, target and safety schools). By the end of the session, students complete the initial research process critical in pursuing college options.  The most difficult start point of the college admissions process is faced. Students are more likely to self-direct the rest of the college process independently and with confidence.

IMPROVING PERSONAL CONTACT

This plan prepares and supports students as they execute 10 strong college interviews. By the end of the session, students will have successfully engaged with college admissions officers and additional individuals essential to the college admissions process. By improving their communication skills, students increase their chances for college acceptance. In addition, they develop the needed self-awareness to determine which colleges and universities are good fits.

PERFECTING THE COLLEGE ESSAY

This plan is designed to produce one or more (depending on the student’s needs) perfected college application essays.  Ideally this process will begin at the start of summer and completed before the first school day of senior year. Students write rough drafts while they read numerous short, multi-layered quotes and readings. Final drafts become more complex and nuanced.  By the end of the session, students have completed the most difficult and time-consuming aspect of college admissions—the college essay.
